Party Wall Awards and Boundary Matters
Building on or near the boundaries of properties can easily be a cause of disputes between neighbours. Most building projects near boundaries are subject to the provisions of the Party Wall etc Act.
The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 provides a legal framework to protect adjoining owners’ properties from damage due to building works and at the same time provide rights to property owners to build at or near boundaries subject to conditions.
Patrick Gould acts as the surveyor appointed by either owner or jointly by both owners to administer the terms of the statutory Party Wall legislation for the protection of the properties of both owners.
Boundary disputes do arise between neighbours. Patrick has experience in the measurement of land and buildings and the preparation of scale drawings that can be used to accurately identify fences, buildings and features shown on property conveyance documents and on Land Registry plans.
